NOMA’s mission, rooted in a rich legacy of activism, is to empower our local chapters and membership to foster justice and equity in communities of color through outreach, community advocacy, professional development and design justice.

TIFFANY MONTAÑEZ
Tiffany Montañez is a proud Nuyorican based in Miami, Florida. She is a Design Manager at Gensler as a part of their hospitality studio. A dedicated leader, she has served as Vice President and Secretary of SoFloNOMA and currently contributes to NOMA’s ARE Scholarship Committee at the national level. Committed to mentorship and community impact, Tiffany chairs SoFloNOMA’s Project Pipeline, mentors with the ACE Mentor Program, and previously co-chaired AIA Miami’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. In 2022, she was honored as AIA Miami’s Associate of the Year.

AMANDA
BARTON
Amanda is a Miami-based architect and Vice President at HKS, as a part of their hospitality studio specializing in innovative, future-focused design solutions that enhance communities and stand the test of time. A former AIA Miami President and active member of AIA Miami and SoFloNOMA, she is a dedicated advocate for sustainability and resilience. Amanda played a key role in bringing SAY IT LOUD to Florida, amplifying underrepresented designers across the state. She has also served as Co-Chair of the Pickleball Committee, fostering community engagement within the profession. Her commitment to education and advocacy continues to shape the industry, earning her recognition as an ENR Texas & Southeast 2025 Top Young Professional.

FOWELL
Kanisha is a registered architect from Saint Lucia and a passionate advocate for diversity in the built environment. An active leader in SoFloNOMA, she has served as Secretary and Parliamentarian, playing a key role in organizing events, maintaining chapter records, and ensuring smooth operations. Her dedication extends to the Project Pipeline Summer Camp Committee, where she has been instrumental in having a successful camp for our chapter. Committed to mentorship and community building, Kanisha continues to foster an inclusive and empowering architectural profession.

CRAIG AQUART
Craig is a Managing Principal and Owner of MCHarry Associates, a Miami-based firm specializing in public sector projects. With 30+ years of experience, he is a passionate advocate for community and diversity in architecture. A former President of SoFloNOMA (2020) and AIA Miami (2022), Craig is deeply committed to mentoring the next generation. He leads the Architects in the Making (AIM) Program and founded Black Architects in the Making (BAM) in 2016, an initiative dedicated to increasing Black representation in the profession through education, mentorship, and scholarships. In 2024, Craig was the recipient of the presigiest H. Samuel Kruse Silver Medal for Service from AIA Miami.

STACEY BOYNTON
Stacey is a registered architect and the owner of Studio-US Design. She holds a Master’s in Architecture and Community Design from The University of South Florida. In 2024, Stacey served as President of SoFloNOMA and is currently the Chair of Diversity and Inclusion for both the AIA Fort Lauderdale Chapter and Black Architects in the Making (BAM) in Broward County. She has also served as a board member on the Northwest CRA Advisory Committee for the City of Pompano Beach and is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

BRANDON NEWTON
Brandon is an Architectural Designer at Wannemacher Jensen Architects with a Master in Architecture and Urban Design from the University of South Florida who has a passion to equip destitute communities with sustainable tools to empower themselves. He was previously a graduate Research Assistant at the Florida Center for Community Design and Research. Brandon has established two collegiate architectural organizations that raises awareness about social issues that plague disenfranchised populaces and addresses the lack of representation of minorities within architecture.
EMELY ACOBO
Emely is an Associate Designer at MC Harry & Associates. She is a graduate from the Florida International University with a Masters in Architecture, where she was also President of the university NOMAS Chapter and member of the Tau Sigma Delta Honor Society. During her time at Florida International University, she was selected as SoFloNOMA Student of the Year in 2022. She previously served as a board member of SoFloNOMA as Secretary and co-chair of the Graphics and Social Media Committee. She is an active member of Black Architects in the Making (B.A.M) Sketch Thursdays.
